Hello all,
From the title you can guess what I'll be talking about. Recently I have started the redecorating process of my room and well it didn't start out well!
The first thing that went wrong was the removing of wallpaper process; first of all I didn't know that the plastering can come off the walls if you use a steamer! That came as a super surprise!! So apparently the best way of removing wallpaper is to slash the walls and stray it with warm water, then use warm/hot soapy to wipe it off. Of course use a scraper to help get the rest of the wallpaper off.
I had to get someone in to do it all and it came to £380!!! :O :O :O I know I probably got riffed off but I really needed it to be done quickly and he did it in 3 days so I guess that's OK, right? Well, I'll keep thinking its OK just to make my self feel better. The next surprise came as sudden as the last! Plasters don't dry that quickly, apparently! I read on the internet that it can take months to dry properly, but the lil man that came said all I need to do if I wanted to paint it quicker was to mix half paint half water so that the newly plastered walls don't crumble and fall off.
So, that was the removal process and well when we decided that it was OK to paint the walls, and from the advice given we mixed half paint half water and well that took forever for the walls to be white! It took 2 big tins and countless coats to do that. Of course, there was one lil thing that the plasterer decided not to tell us. Which was you NEED to wash down the walls, I later got this information from the internet, but anyway now that the paint is dry there are crackling effects on the walls where the leftover glue was! NOT COOL!!! So angry!!!
I have wasted so much time and effort to do this and he missed out one lil detail and it all goes down hill! So, I now am hoping that the few coats of paint we just painted will cover it up, at least a bit.
So ladies and gentlemen who are reading this and haven't decorated or paint before take these advice:

So ladies and gentlemen who are reading this and haven't decorated or paint before take these advice:
- When removing wall paper slash the walls and spray it with warm water, let it soak in and the use warm soapy water to scrub it off, its not the best job but its got the be done!
- Once you have done that scrub/ wash down the walls and make sure all of the wallpaper glue is off.
- When painting newly plastered walls definitely mix half paint half water! You don't want the possibility of your walls crumbling down! Do this until all walls are white.
- Paint whatever colour you like but don't forget to mask off the areas you don't want paint on.
- Also if you are, like me, planning on painting your walls different colours don't forget that you should paint the lighter walls first then the darker, this means that if you accidently get some lighter colours on where the darker walls are supposed to be, the darker colour will cover it easier.
Well that's all I have to share today.
Until next time
xoxo
